ZAGREB, May 21 (Hina) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and
Development (EBRD) is interested in participating in the
privatization of Croatian infrastructure systems such as
telecommunications, the EBRD's director for Croatia, Romania,
Moldavia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, Josue Tanaka, said in Zagreb on
Tuesday after talks with Croatian Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa.
Tanaka told reporters that the EBRD was conducting preliminary
talks with the food processing companies "Josip Kras" and
"Podravka" on buying their shares.
Matesa cited the Adriatic oil pipeline as another possible
area of cooperation with the EBRD. He said that after the peaceful
reintegration of the remaining occupied Eastern Slavonia region,
Croatia expected substantial investment in the reconstruction of
towns such as Vukovar.
