BONN, Apr 26 (Hina) - The Bonn conference on the Bosnian Federation
has resolved the pending issues relative to the structure and
functioning of municipal authorities in four Bosnian municipalities
- Bugojno, Vares, Capljina and Stolac, Croatian Foreign Minister
Mate Granic said on Friday before leaving Bonn.
"We have finally resolved this issue at a meeting yesterday
evening, which was followed by a working dinner," he said.
"The solution we came up yesterday is based on the principles
previously agreed upon with President Izetbegovic," he said.
"The new element is that there will be no manoeuvres about the
verification of mandates - the final decision will lie with the
arbiter," he specified.
"Another thing we've agreed upon is that the office of mayor
and chairman of the city council will be divided among the
communities - if the mayor is a Croat, the chairman of the city
council is a Moslem, and vice-versa," he elaborated.
"This is a great success of this meeting - we have managed to
reach an agreement on everything that was on the agenda, including
the organisation of the police force, police uniforms, these
municipalities and the voting procedure for the three controversial
financial laws," Granic said.
The next conference on the Federation would be held in
Washington on May 14, at an ever higher level, Granic announced.
