SARAJEVO, April 18 (Hina) - The deputy high representative for
implementation of civilian aspects of the Bosnia peace agreement,
Michael Stainer, said on Thursday that the international community
would withhold financial aid to four municipalities in the Bosnian
Federation which had failed to establish transitional local
government bodies.
In a letter to Federation president Kresimir Zubak, his deputy
Ejup Ganic, and premiers Izudin Kapetanovic and Hasan Muratovic,
Steiner recalled that transitional municipal assemblies should have
been formed in Stolac, Capljina, Vares and Bugojno by April 9 in
line with the Sarajevo agreement of March 30.
Steiner called on Federation authorities not to provide
financial assistance to the four municipalities. He announced that
he would demand from the World Bank, the European Union Commission
and other international organizations and donor countries to
withhold all but humanitarian aid to the municipalities until legal
government bodies were established.
