ZAGREB, April 17 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament's House of
Representatives ended a session on Wednesday after discussing a
bill proposed by the government on ways of repaying loans to Paris
Club member states.
Opposition deputies criticized the government's explanation
that by regulating its commitments to the Paris Club by law,
Croatia would strengthen its reputation and open possibilities for
new loans.
The Opposition's fears of excessive indebtedness were
dismissed by members of the ruling Croatian Democration Union (HDZ)
who said that Croatia was among the least indebted former communist
countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
The House would continue its session on Thursday with debate
on a constitutional bill on cooperation with the International War
Crimes Tribunal in The Hague.
