LJUBLJANA, April 16 (Hina) - An agreement on intensifying
parliamentary cooperation and good prospects for resolving some of
the open issues between Croatia and Slovenia are results of talks
between Croatian and Slovene officials in Ljubljana on Tuesday.
Croatian Parliament president Vlatko Pavletic and lower house
vice presidents Drazen Budisa and Vladimir Seks visited Slovenia at
the invitation of Slovene Parliament president Jozef Skolc and met
for talks with Slovene President Milan Kucan and Prime Minister
Janez Drnovsek.
The talks examined the possibility of excluding some open
issues between the two countries from "a global package" and
resolving them maybe as early as July, Pavletic told reporters.
He said that those issues included an agreement on the Krsko
nuclear power plant and health insurance for pensioners.
The talks with Drnovsek focused on property relations and
issues related to the upcoming tourist season. Pavletic said that
they proposed that Drnovsek put forward proposals for resolving all
the issues quickly and effectively.
Pavletic and Drnovsek agreed that the resolution of
territorial issues should left for the next year.
Pavletic described the talks with Kucan as very interesting,
adding that Kucan urged cooperation between Croatia and Slovenia in
addressing challenges from extremist Italian circles concerning the
Osimo accords.
The Croatian delegation invited Skolc to visit Croatia.
