CROATIAN RECONSTRUCTION MINISTER MEETS DISPLACED KOSOVO CROATS

ZAGREB, March 21 (Hina) - Reconstruction Minister Jure Radic on Thursday received representatives of the displaced Croats from Janjevo, a village in the southern Serbian province of Kosovo. The Reconstruction Ministry said in a statement that out of 3,500 Croats living in Janjevo before Serbian agression on Croatia, about 2,500 had been expelled and had found refuge in Croatia. Since the problem of their permanent accomodation had still not been adequately resolved, 147 Janjevo families expressed a wish to settle in the hinterland of the Adriatic port of Zadar. Radic offered the families abandoned houses in the liberated areas in line with the law on temporary takeover and management of certain property. The guests thanked the Croatian government for its help, expressing willingness to exchange their property in Kosovo with Serbs who had left the liberated territory. (hina) ha jn 212106 MET mar 96
