ZAGREB, Feb 1 (Hina) - The Governor of the National Bank of Croatia
has agreed to attend a meeting of governors of central banks of the
former Yugoslavia successor states, but cannot accept that such a
meeting be held on "Yugoslav" (Serbia-Montenegro) territory, the
Governor's office said today in a statement.
The initiative for such a meeting came from the Slovene
central bank governor Franc Arhar. Arhar has contacted with
Yugoslav central bank govenor Dragoslav Avramovic in order to
settle organisational details, but the time and place of the
meeting have not yet been determined, the statement said.
"The only topic acceptable to Croatia is the division of the
former Federation's gold reserves, deposited with the Bank for
International Settlements in Basle. Agreement on this issue would
not preempt the settlement of other succession issues," the
statement concluded.
