PRISTINA, 26 Dec (Hina) - An independent union of Albanian students
of Pristina University decided to stop their protest walks in
Pristina and other towns in Kosovo.
The walks were organised with the aim of demanding the return of
Albanian students and professors to Kosovo universities.
The decision to stop the demonstrations was made following
provocations by Serbian police, who prevented the gathering of
Albanian students in Djakovica on Thursday.
Nine Albanians were injured and several participants in the
demonstrations were detained for several hours by Serbian police in
Djakovica.
A committee for the organisation of students' protests issued a
statement saying that preparations for a mass peaceful protest
meeting on 30 December in Pristina would continue.
