ZAGREB, Dec 19 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament Speaker Vlatko Pavletic
on Friday wished a merry Christmas and happy 1998 to all citizens of
Croatia.
"The past year has brought what we have been announcing for the
longest time and what we have been working on with dedication and
patience: the peaceful and gradual, but sure reintegration of the
Croatian Danube river region. Croatia is whole at last!" Pavletic
said.
Despite various problems and obstacles, even pressures, the
envisaged per cent of industrial development had been maintained,
and along with it an increase in salaries, pensions and standard.
This is an important factor in the consolidation of our stability
and conviction that the new year would bring us much more good and
success on the way to Euro-Atlantic integrations, under the
condition that we continue to, with even more determination,
realise European standards in the respect of human rights, equality
of all citizens, freedom of the media, the development of
democracy, education and science, and the care for culture,
Pavletic said.
