ZAGREB, Dec 9 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on Tuesday
received a delegation of the World Exposition EXPO 98, which will be
held in Portugal next year with "The Seas and Oceans - A Heritage for
the Future" as its theme, the President's Office said in a
statement.
EXPO 98 Chief Commissioner Jose de Melo Torres Campos and UN Chief
Commissioner for Expo 98 Helene-Marie Gosselin informed the
President about the organisation of the exhibition, which will
involve all member states of the UN and UNESCO, the main sponsor of
the event.
President Tudjman expressed satisfaction that an agreement between
the UN and EXPO on the general sponsorship of the exhibition was
signed in Zagreb on Monday. He added that this was a credit to
Croatia and its long maritime tradition, a part of which will be
shown at EXPO 98.
The meeting was attended by Presidential Chief of Staff Hrvoje
Sarinic, Chief Economic Affairs Adviser Pero Jurkovic, head of the
President's Cabinet Goran Radin and Chief Presidential Aide Maj.

The EXPO 98 delegation included Croatian National Commissioner for
EXPO Marko Zaja, Chairman of the Croatian National Committee for
EXPO 98 Jurica Pavelic and Croatian Ambassador to UNESCO Vesna
Girardi-Jurkic, the statement concluded.
