ZAGREB, Dec 1 (Hina) - A delegation of the Croatian Independent
Trade Unions Alliance (SSSH) on Monday presented Croatian Premier
Zlatko Matesa with a requisition form of of Croatian Workers, which
bears more than 31,500 signatures the SSSH gathered all over
Croatia since November.
Representatives of the government and the trade unions later
discussed possibilities for settling issues outlined in the
requisition form.
"At this moment, the most important thing for us is to eliminate any
threat to the standard of living", SSSH president Davor Juric told
reporters. Higher prices of "everything" in the last few days were a
big threat to trade unions, he added.
According to social welfare and labour minister Joso Skara, the
government had already undertaken certain steps in relation to
issues mentioned in the form. The majority of these could be settled
within a few months, he said, adding some requests would be settled
at the Economic and Social Council and some at the parliament.
