OSIJEK, Nov 11 (Hina) - Out of 15 elementary and four high schools in
the UN-administered part of the Osijek-Baranja County, eastern
Croatia, classes are not being held only in one elementary school in
Dalj and regional departments of Beli Manastir high schools in
Darda.
According to Ksenija Zbozil, head of the County education office,
about 100 parents gathered at the elementary school in Dalj on
Tuesday and elected a delegation which should draw up their demands
and forward them to Croatian education services. She said she did
not know what these demands could be.
Only a dozen out of 250 pupils of the fifth, sixth and seventh grades
attending classes in the Serbian language in Dalj came to classes
today.
About 90 pupils of regional departments of Beli Manastir high
schools in Darda refused to attend classes.
Zbozil called both them and pupils in Dalj to start attending
classes as of tomorrow. She told their parents not to abuse their
children, as school non-attendance would damage them the most.
