ZAGREB, Nov 2 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman and spouse
on Sunday visited two fine arts exhibitions in Zagreb. The first was
the most comprehensive retrospective to date of Croatian painter
Slavko Kopac, while the second included selected works by
contemporary painter Josip Jordan.
The Kopac exhibition included 376 works.
"With great interest I attended the exhibition of the great
Croatian artist Slavko Kopac, who (unfortunately) spent the
greater part of his artistic life abroad, in Rome, Florence and
Paris", the Croatian President wrote in the book of impressions.
Croatian Culture Minister Bozo Biskupic gave Tudjman a copy of a
comprehensive monograph entitled "One Thousand Years of Croatian
Sculpture", published in 1991 after a major sculpture exhibition.
The Jordan exhibition included some 100 works from the 1972-1997
period. Jordan, who attended, and critic Stanko Spoljaric
acquainted President Tudjman with the artist's opus.
Tudjman told reporters he saw Kopac's works for the first time. It
belongs to the best European art, he said.
