SARAJEVO, Oct 28 (Hina) - Two top police officials in the central
Bosnian town of Jajce have been dismissed in compliance with
conditions set by the international community after the killing of
a Moslem man and expulsion of several hundred returnees in early
August, UN spokesman Liam McDowall said in Sarajevo on Tuesday.
The International Police Task Force (IPTF) was informed that the
chief of the police in Jajce, Marko Lucic, and his deputy, Marko
Bilandzija, had been relieved of their duties, McDowall told a news
conference.
International organisations in Bosnia-Herzegovina demanded their
resignation after an investigation into the incidents in the Croat-
controlled Jajce area.
McDowall said that the IPTF sought additional guarantees that the
two officers would not be appointed to any posts in the cantonal
interior ministry and that eight other policemen, designated in an
IPTF report as responsible for involvement in the incidents, would
be punished.
