ZAGREB, Oct 24 (Hina) - US President Bill Clinton on Thursday
announced the nomination of William Dale Montgomery as US
Ambassador to Croatia, the US Embassy in Zagreb said in a statement
on Friday.
Ambassador Montgomery, of Pennsylvania, began his diplomatic
career in 1974. He served in Belgrade, Moscow, Dar es Salaam, and
twice in Bulgaria, including as US Ambassador from 1993 to 1996.
Since 1996, Montgomery has been serving as the special adviser for
Bosnian peace implementation at the State Department.
The new US ambassador to Croatia has a BA degree from Bucknell
University and an MBA from George Washington University. He served
in the US Army from 1967 to 1970. He speaks Russian, Bulgarian and
Croatian. Ambassador Montgomery and his wife, Lynne, have one son
and two daughters.
