VUKOVAR, Oct 18 (Hina) - Three people died and two were injured in
an explosion that happened at 06.30 am Saturday in Stari Jankovci,
an eastern Croatian municipality under the UN Transitional
Administration (UNTAES).
The transitional police chief, Ivan Babic, has said that an
on-the-spot investigation is being conducted by experts of the
Vukovar-Sirmium County police, the Croatian Interior Ministry, the
transitional police, UNTAES and an investigating judge of the
Vukovar municipal court.
A spokesman for UNTAES, Douglas Coffmann, has said that the
blast is believed to have been caused by an antitank mine, according
to the current results of the investigation.
According to him, two men and one woman were killed, and one
woman sustained serious injuries in the explosion.
He has added that all victims were of the Serb ethnic origin.
