FUEL UNLOADED FROM DAMAGED TANKER IN SPLIT

SPLIT, Oct 11 (Hina) - All fuel from the 'Tomislavgrad' tanker damaged in an explosion at the prow on Wednesday in Solin (near Split), was unloaded on Saturday. The 1,627 tonnes of fuel began to be unloaded on Friday. According to an employee of the Croatian oil company or INA, the unloading has been carried out successfully. On Wednesday's blast the first mate of 'Tomislavgrad', Zarko Radovic, was killed and a sailor, Zarko Gverin sustained injuries. The explosion did not cause ecological disaster in the Solin bay where the tanker was at the moment of the accident. An investigating judge at the county court in Split, Velimir Pandzic said that it was certain that the petrol fumes had caused the explosion, but added that an investigation into the case was not yet completed. Port authorities of Split has instigated the criminal procedure against the ship captain, Antun Brbor. They blamed Brbor for having ordered the transport of the cargo for which he did not have necessary certification. Croatian Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs, Zeljko Luzavec, suspended the harbour master and inspector of Rijeka after the accident. The harbour master of Split, Boris Matosic, has said that a commission, appointed by Transport Minister, will soon reveal results of its probe into the explosion and fire at the 'Tomislavgrad' tanker.
