OSIJEK, Oct 14 (Hina) - The commander of Croatian army's Djakovo
district, eastern Croatia, Brigadier Dragan Bagaric, on Tuesday
received the head of the European monitoring mission's coordination
centre, Staff Meeze, and his deputy Hein Hegge, a Djakovo army
district statement said.
Meeze and Hegge presented their organization which has five
teams in the Djakovo army district, whose task is to monitor and
regularly report on security, political and humanitarian conditions
in former UN sectors areas in Croatia, and to supervise the two-way
return of displaced persons and refugees.
Bagaric informed the European monitors about the Croatian
army's determination to contribute to the completion of the peaceful
reintegration in line with reached agreements, and to use its
appropriate attitude and professionalism to show international
community representatives that the it (Croatian army) is ready to be
included in Western security and defense systems.
Bagaric and the European monitors agreed that UNTAES will
leave Croatia as planned, and that the Djakovo army district command
will continue to openly cooperate with international community
monitors in the UN-administered region in order for the UNTAES
mandate to terminate on 15 January 1998, the statement concluded.
