ZAGREB, Sept 17 (Hina) - Nobody's standard of life will fall in Croatia because of the introduction of the Value Added Tax as of 1 January 1998, Croatian Finance Minister Borislav Skegro said during question-time at the Croatian
Parliament House of Representatives on Wednesday. Nobody can reliably simulate the situation which will arise after the introduction of the VAT, but, he said many products would become cheaper.
ZAGREB, Sept 17 (Hina) - Nobody's standard of life will fall in
Croatia because of the introduction of the Value Added Tax as of
1 January 1998, Croatian Finance Minister Borislav Skegro said
during question-time at the Croatian Parliament House of
Representatives on Wednesday.

Within the framework of the Article 7 of the Agreement on
the Normalisation of Relations between Croatia and Yugoslavia,
talks were also focused on war damage , Foreign Minister Mate
Granic said when asked whether the government had requested
compensation for war damage.
Asked whether it was true that the looting of Croat
property continued in the Danubian region, that is, in the area
under the UN Transitional Administration, Reconstruction and
Development Minister Jure Radic said it was true, and added that
dozens of complaints from Croat returnees were being forwarded to
him on a daily basis.
After 15 January, when Croatian authority was fully
reinstated in the Danubian area, the government would guarantee
full security to persons and property, Radic said.
Asked whether the government was negotiating with the
German "Audi" company, Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa said that the
government wanted Audi to open a factory in Croatia.
We have offered them Sibenik and whichever location they
select, that is entirely their decision, Matesa said.
Asked by a representative of the Serb People's Party when
the government would annul the Law on Managing Certain Property,
Matesa said that the government was considering the possibilities
of annulling the law.
Asked by the same MP whether Tomislav Mercep had visited
the four members of a unit formerly under his command, who had
been placed in detention at the Zagreb County court for the
suspicion that they had committed war crimes in Pakracka Poljana,
Justice Minister Miroslav Separovic said that as far as he knew,
Mercep had not visited the four.
