Turnsek told a news conference that the decision had been reached
at the initiative of the United States as part of the "Equip and Train"
programme.
Slovenia will send weapons which had been confiscated while being
illegally sold in the country.
Most of the weapons date from the so-called Maribor Affair in 1994,
when 420 tons of weapons and equipment of eastern European origin had
been found at the Maribor airport in containers with humanitarian help.
