TRAVNIK, Aug 8 (Hina) - A meeting of a commission composed of
representatives of the international community and the ministries
for refugees of the Central Bosnia Canton and the Federation of
Bosnia-Herzegovina scheduled for today was postponed, the central
Bosnia Canton's Welfare and Refugees Minister Vikica Mijic said
on Friday.
On the basis of a Sarajevo agreement and in line with a
decision by representatives of the Canton and international
associations, the Commission for the Organization of the Return
of Displaced Persons and Refugees of the Central Bosnia Canton
was scheduled to meet in Travnik today.
The meeting had been organized by the head of UNHCR's seat
in Zenica, Jean-Michel Goodsticker. It was expected that the
basics of a return-programme concerning about 100,000 refugees
and displaced persons (including 70,000 Bosnian Croats) of the
Central Bosnia Canton would be accepted.
Representatives of the office of the international high
representative for BH, OSCE, SFOR, IPTF, ECMM, UNHCR, and the
Canton appeared today, but the BH Federation's Minister for
Social Welfare, Refugees and Displaced Persons, Rasim Kadic, did
not show up.
According to Mijic, Kadic's failure to appear at the
meeting unsettled the short deadlines from the Sarajevo 5 August
agreement on central Bosnia, and postponed the settling of the
first and hottest issue in the Central Bosnia Canton. A new
meeting had not been announced, she said.
