VUKOVAR, July 7 (Hina) - War damages to 990 flats registered in Vukovar
to date amount to about 20 million German marks, to which damages to
furniture and other equipment should be added, Ivan Treber, an assistant
to the head of the Centre for Development and Reconstruction of the
Croatian Danube Region and president of the Commission for Listing War-
Damaged Property of the Vukovar-Srijem County, told reporters on Monday.
It is estimated that war damages to the 2,000 flats which should be
reconstructed in Vukovar this year will amount to about 50 million
German marks, Treber said, specifying that about 6,000 flats in Vukovar
should be listed as having suffered war damages.
Enterprises in the Croatian Danube region will soon form teams to
list war damages to economy, while damages to the infrastructure are
listed by public enterprise commissions, said Treber. Listing of war
damages to about 10,000 housing buildings will soon begin as well, in
line with local authority priorities, he said, adding that "damages to
the health and lives of people" will also be listed.
According to Treber, it is estimated that war damages in the
Croatian Danube region amount to about 10 billion German marks and
account for one third of total war damages in Croatia.
