CROATS AND MOSLEMS
SARAJEVO, June 24 (Hina) - The office of the international High
Representative in Bosnia-Herzegovina, on Tuesday sent a warning to
Bosnian Serb authorities who do not let 38 Croat and Moslem families to
return to their homes in Banja Luka.
A spokesman for the office said in Sarajevo that Bosnian Serb
authorities refused to implement rulings of Banja Luka court under which
Moslems and Croats, illegally evicted from their homes from 1993 to
1995, could come back. Serbs mostly from other parts of Bosnia have
moved into those houses and flats.
The spokesman, Michael McLay, added that in April the Bosnian
ombudsman's office had warned Banja Luka authorities that they must
begin carrying out rulings of the court on June 7. Despite a pledge they
have given, Banja Luka authorities have done nothing until now, and
local police have not enable the legal owners to return to their houses
and flats.
A deputy to the international High Representative, Michael Steiner,
conveyed a request for implementation of court rulings to the president
of the Bosnian Serb entity, Biljana Plavsic, during their meeting in
Banja Luka on Tuesday.
