IN VUKOVAR
ZAGREB, June 12 (Hina) - The reconstruction of 142 apartments in two
apartment blocks in the centre of Vukovar has begun, the office of
European Commission special envoy to Croatia Per Vinther said in a
statement on Thursday.
The apartments, when finished in the autumn, would provide
accommodation for 400 people. The reconstruction is financed by the
European Union and carried out by the European Commission in close
cooperation with relevant Croatian authorities and UNTAES.
In the first half of this year the European Union has also financed
the reconstruction of public buildings, the power grid and water supply.
So far 22 million kuna has been spent on this projects, and the EU
plans to invest 100 million kuna in the reconstruction of the Croatian
Danube river region before the end of this year.
