ZAGREB'S ARCH BISHOP SERVES EASTER FRIDAY MASS

ZAGREB, March 28 (Hina) - The Zagreb Arch-Bishop Cardinal Franjo Kuharic served Easter Friday mass in Zagreb. #L# Speaking about the meaning of the cross, Kuharic said that the cross was love with which Bog sacrificed Himself to rinse the sins of man with His own blood. All the suffering of the world gathered in Christ on Easter Friday. We thus bow to You, Christ, because You redeemed the world with Your cross, Kuharic said. Man understood the death of the body, but not the death of the soul, which was the result of the absence of God's life from the human soul, Kuharic said. God could not be killed in someone else, but everyone could kill Him in themselves, which they would do if they decided on evil and the exclusion of God's love from their lives, he said. Asking what was the crowd which had demanded of Pilate to crucify Christ, Kuharic said it was all of us. "Who did not in their life shout 'Die, Christ, so that I may life in my sin'? If only we could see how much sin there was in the souls of the contemporary people who call for the death of God, and God accepts it and dies - to save us," Kuharic said. (hina) lm 282150 MET mar 97
