RIJEKA, Mar 11 (Hina) - Croatian Minister of Maritime Affairs,
Transport and Communications, Zeljko Luzavec, on Tuesday opened in
Rijeka the 13th International Yachting Fair, "Nautica 97", to take
place until 16 March.
On this occasion, Luzavec pointed out that yachting was the
most attractive part of Croatian tourism, which was one of the
foundations of Croatian economy and its most significant export.
"Fairs like this one stimulate production and sales in the
field of aquatic sports and in the most direct way influence its
development", Luzavec said, pointing out that some 150,000 yachts
would sail the Croatian Adriatic this year. "Of particular
significance are the investments in the safety of sailing and the
equipment of port authority offices", he added.
Taking part in "Nautica 97" are some 160 exhibitors from
Europe, showcasing yachts and accompanying equipment of the world's
leading manufacturers. Several specialized seminars will also be
held during the fair.
"Nautica 97" was set up by the Rijeka Fair, under the auspices
of the Croatian Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and
Communications, the Croatian Tourism Ministry, the Intellectual
Property Bureau and the City Administration of Rijeka.
