SARAJEVO, March 6 (Hina) - Civil air traffic by international
routes above the territory of Bosnia-Herzegovina should be soon
restored, with control of flight controls from Zagreb and Belgrade.
A spokesman for SFOR in Sarajevo, Andrew Saddleton, on
Thursday said such a decision was a result of Wednesday's meeting
in Brussels, at an initiative of the European organisation for
flight controls and the international organisation for civil
aviation.
At the session an agreement was reached on the re-opening of
air corridors above Bosnia-Herzegovina for civil air traffic.
Representatives of SFOR and local flight controls in Zagreb as well
as in Belgrade signed an interim agreement, Saddleton said.
According to him, civil aircraft are currently not allowed to
use corridors above Bosnia and they have to make detours.
A spokesman for SFOR said that air corridors above Bosnia
would open for traffic during this year, as soon as some technical
details were been agreed on.
Saddleton could not answer the question whether Bosnian
authorities' representatives had been included in reaching the
agreement.
According to the SFOR spokesman, Bosnia's civil aviation
management is the only international recognised subject in the
country for negotiations on such issues, but Bosnian Serb entity's
representatives have not yet been included in its work.
