JAKARTA, Feb 26 (Hina) - Croatian Premier Zlatko Matesa on
Wednesday arrived in Jakarta for a several-day official visit to
Indonesia at an invitation of Indonesian President Suharto.
During his first brief meeting with President Suharto upon his
arrival, Matesa conveyed to Suharto best regards of Croatian
President Franjo Tudjman.
Croatian Premier and Indonesian President talked about
peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area, the situation
in Bosnia-Herzegovina as well as about economic cooperation between
Croatia and Indonesia.
After the talks, Premier Matesa and Indonesian Foreign
Minister Ali Alatas said to reporters that the two countries had
very good political relations. Matesa added that it was important
to Croatia to enjoy Indonesia's support in world politics. Alatas
said his country was very interested in developments in Croatia and
in the resolution of the issue the Croatian Danubian area.
They added that the economic cooperation was not enough
developed and voiced hope that this visit would contribute to its
promotion.
On Thursday Premier Matesa will conduct official talks with
Indonesian President Suharto.
Simultaneously a Croatian delegation will meet an Indonesian
delegation to consider economic cooperation and ties between
Croatian and Indonesian companies.
On Thursday the two countries will sign an agreement on
economic and technical cooperation and an air traffic agreement.
Officials of the Croatian oil company, 'INA', and the
Indonesian 'Petramin' company are expected to sign a treaty on
cooperation.
The establishment of better economic ties with Indonesia may
ensure the approach of Croatia to a wider market in the area
covered by the ASEAN economic association.
Croatian Premier Matesa is accompanied by Economy Minister
Davor Stern, Transport Minister Zeljko Luzavec, Tourism Minister
Niko Bulic, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce head, Nadan Vidosevic,
the INA director, Andrija Kojakovic and Croatian Shipbuilding
company director Ante Baucic.
