VINKOVCI, March 5 (Hina) - The Independent Serb Democratic Party
(SSDS), on Wednesday held the founding session in Vukovar, the
Croatian Danubian area.
The SSDS programme's goals are a de-centralized state,
personal and cultural Serb autonomy, local government and self-
government, and popular unity and concord, local media reported.
The founding session elected a 33-member head committee, but
did not choose the committee's president who will be also the
president of the party.
A local leader, Vojislav Stanimirovic, said that following the
elections a "regional assembly and the executive council" would be
quite surely dissolved, and the party would be the nucleus of
Serbs' gatherings for protection of their interests.
"If we win elections, we shall try to exercise our national,
cultural, political, economic and other rights, through the joint
council of Serb municipalities," Stanimirovic said to local media.
