MOSCOW, Feb 27 (Hina) - Aide to Croatian Foreign Minister,
Hido Biscevic, on Thursday held talks with the First Deputy
Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Igor Ivanov, aide
to the foreign minister, N. Afanasyevski, and special Russian
envoy for the Danubian area and Bosnia-Herzegovina, A.
Aksenjonka, the Croatian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The talks focused on the importance of completing the
peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area. Biscevic
reported on all the activities the Croatian authorities
performed in view of ensuring conditions for the holding of
free elections in that area, and the protection of the
minorities' rights. It was mutually confirmed that the results
of recent talks between the Croatian and Yugoslav sides in
Belgrade were an important contribution in that respect.
The Russian side confirmed its interest for further
development of relations with Croatia.
Opinions on security relations in Europe in the future
were also exchanged, especially in view of the actual dialogue
on the expansion of NATO. Biscevic said that Croatia's key
strategic goal remained the inclusion into European and
Euroatlantic integrations.
