MOSTAR, Feb 10 (Hina) - Michael Steiner, a deputy of the top
international peace administrator in Bosnia-Herzegovina, on Monday
evening said that if the involvement of certain officials was
established in Monday's incidents in Mostar when there were killed
and wounded persons, they would have to resign.
If it was confirmed that some officials committed crimes then
legal consequences must be taken, Steiner said after this evening's
talks with Mostar Mayor Ivan Prskalo in the western part of the
town.
Before that the German diplomat held talks with Deputy Mostar
Mayor Safet Orucevic in the eastern halve of the town.
Steiner stressed that the situation in Mostar had to be now
calmed and that objective facts about Monday's events in the town
had to be established.
He called upon the media not to warm up the atmosphere in
Mostar.
He added that at this evening's meeting it was agreed that as
soon as possible, (and it is likely to be during the night) Mostar
Croat and Moslem police officials should meet to consider measures
for calming the situation in the town.
Prskalo said that during his talks with Steiner a shell hit
the suburb of Ilici in the western part of Mostar.
