CROAT, MOSLEM OFFICIALS AGREE ON MEASURES TO STABILIZE SITUATION IN MOSTAR

IN MOSTAR SARAJEVO, Feb 12 (Hina) - The highest Croat and Moslem officials from Bosnia met at a meeting in Sarajevo on Wednesday which was presided by Deputy High Representative Michael Steiner. The officials agreed on urgent measures which needed to be taken in order to stabilise the situation in Mostar. Steiner told reporters after the meeting that an agreement had been reached that an independent investigating commission consisting of International Police representatives launch an investigation and identify persons responsible for incidents in the town which had happened on Monday, in seven days. The sides agreed that all those responsible for the incidents should be tried and those who were members of local police be dismissed. They also agreed that all persons who had been exiled from their flats be ensured their return, for which are responsible the county minister and deputy interior minister. Croat and Moslem officials agreed that a curfew stay in force in Mostar for the time being and that International Police and SFOR members continue to search for illegal long-barrelled firearms and confiscate them. The officials also agreed about the establishment of the freedom of movement in Mostar and that illegal check-points be removed at once.
