The meeting was also attended by the head of the Croatian Red Cross,
Nenad Javornik.
Granic thanked Lander for everything the IFCR had done for Croatia at
the time of aggression against the country, adding that Croatia still cared
for a large number of displaced people and refugees.
We believe that the war is behind us and that Croatia will turn to
its internal development and to getting closer to Euro-Atlantic integration
processes, Granic said, stressing that the main goal of Croatia's policy is
the peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area, the successful
organisation and implementation of elections in the area as well as the
successful completion of the UNTAES mandate.
Lander expressed satisfaction with an agreement which was signed
between Croatia and the International Federation of the Societies of the Red
Cross and the Red Crescent in May last year. He stressed that the IFCR
wanted to continue its presence in Croatia by implementing its projects.
The IFCR has devised special programs of help to elderly people,
displaced people and refugees and it intends to expand them this year,
Lander said.
At the end of the talks, Minister Granic stressed that IFCR projects
had always been judged positively in Croatia and expressed hope that the
already successful cooperation would continue.
