ZAGREB, Feb 20 (Hina) - The Knezevo - Udvar border crossing between Croatia
and Hungary under UNTAES administration, which has so far been open only for
the transport of goods in transit, is to be opened for passengers on 24
February.
The Croatian government public relations office issued a statement on
Thursday saying that a meeting between Croatian and UNTAES delegations had
taken place in Beli Manastir on Thursday, which had focused on changes in
the regime of the border crossing.
The delegations had agreed that the Knezevo-Udvar border crossing be
opened on 24 February to all vehicles and passengers who had documents
necessary for entering Croatia and Hungary.
Croatian citizens and vehicles with Croatian license plates will pass
through Baranja at first, from the Bilje UN check point north of Osijek, to
the Knezevo-Udvar border crossing.
At the meeting in Beli Manastir, the delegations reached an agreement
on the beginning of negotiations on the opening of a railway line connecting
Osijek (Croatia) and Pecuh (Hungary) through the Beli Manastir-Magyarboly
border crossing, the statement said.
