SARAJEVO, Feb 21 (Hina) - President of the Bosnian Presidency Alija
Izetbegovic on Friday harshly condemned last night's attack on the St. Ante
monastery and church in Sarajevo. The Sarajevan TV reported on the evening
news that two grenades had been launched on the monastery, causing
considerable damage, and also broadcast Izetbegovic's reaction.
"With indignation I received the news about that shameful attack on a
place of prayer, which could have been perpetrated only by a miserable
coward or a conscious enemy of Bosnia. I expect that the organs of the
police do everything in order to quickly find out the attacker, while I
appeal to the people to oppose such mindless persons and help in uncovering
the perpetrator," Izetbegovic said in his statement.
The Sarajevan TV anchorman also harshly condemned the attack on the
Franciscan monastery, pointing out that many citizens had telephoned to
express their solidarity with the Franciscans.
