NETHERLANDS TAKES OVER E.U. MONITOR MISSION TO EX-YUGOSLAVIA

ZAGREB, Jan 1 (Hina) - By taking over the rotating presidency of the European Union on Wednesday, the Netherlands also assumed responsibility for running the European Union Monitor Mission, the mission's Zagreb office said in a statement. Ambassador Daan W. Everts has been appointed head of the EU mission in the former Yugoslavia. The mission will continue its efforts more efficiently and more successfully in order to contribute to the promotion of the democratic process and stability in the region, the statement said.
