SARAJEVO, Jan 14 (Hina) - Spokesman of the Stabilization Force (SFOR) in Sarajevo Jan Joosten said that a fairly large amount of weapons had been found in Livno (southwest Bosnia- Herzegovina) during a regular inspection of police stations in the country. #L# SFOR troops had found 300 different types of guns and machine guns in a Livno police station. The police were given a deadline of 48 hours within which they should transport the weapons in one of the warehouses where it is allowed to keep that kind of weapons. A rather large amount of the weapons was on Tuesday transported from a police station in Celic. Under a decision of the international police commissioner in Bosnia, Peter Fitzgerald, the amount of long-barreled weapons in police stations is strictly limited. During regular tasks, the civilian police can only hold pistols and only one gun or machine gun is allowed per ten police officers in stations. UN spokesman in Sarajevo Aleksandar Ivanko said on Wednesday that Interior Minister of the Serb entity, Dragan Kijac, had expressed dissatisfaction about such a decision and had asked for an urgent meeting with Fitzgerald. In a letter forwarded to Fitzgerald, Kijac claimed that the restriction in the allowed amount of weapons in police stations was not in line with the Dayton Agreement. Ivanko said on Wednesday that the statement was not correct and that he would not give up the restriction, nor would he allow the decision to be violated. (Hina) lm jn 151353 MET jan 97
