The financial consolidation and reorganization of the 16
companies will require financial means amounting to 1,38 billion
kuna.
The companies have 10,500 employees currently and after the
implementation of a rehabilitation program, 2,600 employees will
have to be laid off.
'After their reorganization, those companies will not be able
to ask the state for help any more', Croatian Vice Premier Borislav
Skegro told the press conference.
So far, the state has financially reorganized 43 companies.
Thirteen companies are being rehabilitated in line with a Law
on Financial Reorganization, Skegro said, recalling also the
rehabilitation of five shipbuilding companies.
The main goal of the rehabilitation program is to save as many
jobs as possible for the sake of increasing the production of those
companies and their privatisation.
'This is only an incentive for what will happen through the
application of the Bankruptcy Law, this is the financial
rehabilitation of debtors', Skegro said.
Speaking about the support for employees, advisor Nada Mamic
said that 88 million kuna will be spent this year for that purpose.
Support programs for employees include the purchase of years
of service, disability retirement, the joining of assets for the
opening of smaller plants etc.
Almost every of the 16 companies have 10 to 15% redundant
employees, Deputy Economy Minister Boric said.
