SARAJEVO, 27 Jan (Hina) - General Klaus Fruhhaber on Monday took
over command over German forces deployed in the former Yugoslavia
region within the Stabilization Force (SFOR).
The take-over ceremony was held in the SFOR base in Rajlovac,
outside Sarajevo and was conducted by the German Army Chief-of-
Staff, General Klaus Reinhardt.
During their past engagement in Bosnia and Herzegovina, mainly
in logistics and infrastructure repair, German soldiers had shown
their readiness to be part of a big team and they would be part of
the Stabilization Force (SFOR) the aim of which was to strengthen
peace in Bosnia, General Reinhardt said.
German soldiers are arriving in Bosnia and Herzegovina via
Trogir, Croatia. They will take over control of the implementation
of Bosnia peace deal in the country's south-eastern part.
The deployment of German forces, which are to be based in
Sarajevo and Mostar, should be completed by the beginning of
February. Some 2,500 Bundeswehr soldiers are expected to arrive in
Bosnia-Herzegovina by then.
