ZAGREB, Oct 19 (Hina) - The report on the income scale of Croatian
President Franjo Tudjman submitted to the president of the Croatian
National Sabor (Parliament) is complete and true, written in line
with the Law on the Duties and Rights of State Officials, the
Croatian President's Office said in a statement on Monday.
The following is the statement in full:
"Following untrue articles in certain media that the President of
the Republic has submitted incomplete information on the income
scale of himself and members of his family, the President's Office
issues the following statement:
The report on the property of the President of the Republic
submitted to the president of the Croatian State Sabor is complete,
conclusive and true, written in line with the Law on the Duties and
Rights of State Officials. With the aim of full and factual
informing of the Croatian public and refuting various false and
malicious articles on the alleged wealth of the Tudjman family, the
report gives a review of the property of family members of the
President of the Republic which is not required by law to report.
In the process of drafting the report of the President of the
Republic, the President's Office as a starting point used the
opinion of the presidency of the Croatian National Sabor, which, at
its session on September 15, 1998, adopted the model form for the
report in the income scale of certain state officials.
In this form, the property of state officials was divided into three
groups: real-estate, movable property and stock, and shares owned
in any companies.
It was the predominant opinion that cash assets in any form are not
property in the sense of the above mentioned Law.
Considering the above stated, although familiar with information
on the savings of the President of the Republic and members of his
family, the Office of the President of the Republic has drafted and
proposed to the President the report, in line with the Law and
mentioned expert opinions on the implementation of the Law itself
at the session of the Croatian National Sabor," the statement
read.
