SARAJEVO, Oct 8 (Hina) - High Representative of the international
community in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Carlos Westendorp, on Thursday
ordered the dismissal of Dragan Cavic, vice president of the Serb
Democratic Party (SDS) and an MP in the Bosnian Serb parliament.
Cavic was elected to the Republika Srpska Assembly at the September
elections.
A statement from the Office of the High Representative (OHR) noted
that the High Representative's move was in line with the powers he
was granted by the Bonn Conference.
The dismissal was prompted by Cavic's statements regarding the
Kosovo crisis and the outcome of the recent general election
in Bosnia.
On October 5, Cavic threatened the international community and said
that its military intervention in Kosovo would jeopardise the
Dayton peace process in Bosnia.
Cavic was also indefinitely suspended from all public offices, the
OHR noted, adding that Westendorp would not tolerate public
officials who instigate violence or political tensions.
