SARAJEVO, Sept 22 (Hina) - The high international representative
for Bosnia expects all bodies of authority and officials elected at
the recent elections to fully comply with their obligations from
the peace agreement and to support initiated reforms, spokesman
Simon Haselock said in Sarajevo on Tuesday.
Haselock refuted all allegations that high representative Carlos
Westendorp was not willing to recognise the electoral results.
A constituent of the electoral process was the candidates'
confirmation that they were willing to implement the Dayton peace
agreement, Westendorp's spokesman said.
We expect all elected officials, and in particular the new Bosnian
Serb government, to comply with the concrete obligations they have
undertaken, he added.
Westendorp wants the new authorities to firstly maintain the
current climate of stability, peace and respect of law and order, as
well as ethnic reintegration.
Haselock said another priority was significant progress in the
return of refugees and full implementation of property laws related
to the return process.
The third task new authorities will have to carry out is economic
reforms and reconstruction of the country, he said.
The high representative also demands the continuation of already
initiated processes towards the reorganisation of the police and
the judiciary, the rule of law, the strengthening of joint bodies of
authority of Bosnia-Herzegovina, and the abolition of all parallel
authority structures.
Finally, in this country civil society must again come to life in
line with the demands set by the Council of Europe, Haselock
emphasised.
