VUKOVAR, Oct 1 (Hina) - The principal of the 5th Vukovar Primary
School has been asked to explain a chauvinistic incident which
occurred in the school on Wednesday.
The incident involved a fourteen-year old eighth grade student, of
Serb nationality, who walked into the second grade classroom of
students of Croat nationality and spat several times on the
Croatian coat of arms, tore apart a poster of Pope John Paul II and
insulted the children of Croatian returnees.
The heads of the Vukovar town administration told a press
conference on Thursday that they were concerned with the fact that
the Organisation for Security and Coopration in Europe's (OSCE)
Vukovar office had not accepted the complaint from the parents of a
student who was insulted.
According to information from the school's administration, only
three second grade students of Croat nationality came to school
escorted by their parents on Thursday.
The parents of the other seven students had not sent their children
to school.
The 5th Vukovar Primary School is attended by 76 students of Croat
and 681 of Serb nationality.
