NO SERIOUS INCIDENT OCCURS DURING BH ELECTIONS - FEDERAL MINISTER

( Editorial: --> 0161 ) SARAJEVO, Sept 13 (Hina) - The two-day general election in Bosnia- Herzegovina (BH) has passed without any serious incident, the Interior Minister of the Croat-Muslim Federation of BH Mehmed Zilic said in Sarajevo on Sunday. Police in the Federation and Bosnia's other entity, the Bosnian Serb Republic, had undertaken all necessary security measures and were able to prevent any attempt at obstructing the voting, Zilic said. Major security preparations were conducted prior to the election in cooperation with the Interior Ministry of the Bosnian Serb entity, the NATO-led peace Stabilisation Force and UN's International Police Task Force (IPTF), Zilic told reporters after polling stations throughout BH closed at 4PM. Minor incidents occurred only in a few instances and were, Zilic said, caused by individuals who were either drunk or arrived at polling stations carrying party insignia. According to data of the federal Interior Ministry, no problems arose this weekend during the crossing of boundary lines between Bosnia's two entities. Voters enjoyed full freedom of movement. IPTF's advisor at the federal Interior Ministry David McBride said that local police closely cooperated with the IPTF, and that not one complaint had been made about their performance over the last two days.
