ZAGREB, 13 Aug (Hina) - The Organisation for Security and
Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Mission to Croatia is not the author of
an alleged secret report on the situation in the Croatian media as
reported by the Zagreb weekly "Globus" nor is it engaged in
undercover information activities, OSCE spokesman Mark Thompson
said.
That was not a report and especially not a secret report by the OSCE
Mission, Thompson told reporters in Zagreb on Wednesday.
Last week "Globus" claimed the OSCE Mission in Zagreb had issued an
alleged report assessing that there was no considerable progress in
democratisation of the media, especially Croatian Radio-
Television.
Thompson not only denied that the OSCE was the author of the alleged
report but dismissed the possibility that his organisation could
engage in undercover activities.
Neither the work nor the reports of the OSCE are secret, said
Thompson.
We believe that such an approach would not be appropriate since
Croatia is an equal member of the OSCE and we are here at the
invitation of its government, he said.
However, the OSCE spokesman did not deny the existence of the report
itself, denying only that it was the work of his organisation.
