PULA, August 2 (Hina) - The official awards ceremony on Saturday
night in Pula ended this year's Croatian Film Festival, which was
held under the patronage of President Franjo Tudjman.
The Pula '98 audience gave its Golden Door of Pula award to the movie
"Kad mrtvi zapjevaju" ("When the Dead Sing"), produced by Jadran
Film and Croatian Radio Television (HRT).
The movie achieved another major success with Krsto Papic winning
the Grand Golden Arena prize for directing.
The judging panel also handed out Grand Golden Arena prizes to
Sandra Loncaric for best female role, as Stela in the Patria Film
and HRT production "Zavaravanje" ("Deception"); Filip Sovagovic
for best male role, as Jakov Jerat in "Transatlantic", a film
produced by Jadran Film and HRT; and Boris Dvornik for his overall
contribution to Croatian film.
The award for best debut realisation, to be called the Breza from
this year and sponsored by national daily "Vjesnik", was given to
Mirjana Rogina for her role as Melita in the film "Tri muskarca
Melite Zganjer" ("Melita Zganjer's Three Men").
Another 10 prizes, known as Golden Arenas, were awarded. Five of
these were won by "Tri muskarca Melite Zganjer", three by
"Transatlantic", and two by "Kad mrtvi zapjevaju".
