SPLIT, July 14 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa
opened the 44th Split Summer festival, a traditional cultural
event, on Tuesday night.
The festival will include 45 opera, drama and ballet performances.
Split Summer is very important as an expression of the Croatian
culture and we want to send such a message to the world, Matesa said
at the opening ceremony.
The gathered were also addressed by Split County Prefect Branimir
Luksic.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Jure
Radic, Culture Minister Bozo Biskupic, members of the diplomatic
corps and other guests.
The event, held under the auspices of Croatian President Franjo
Tudjman, will last until August 14.
