VINKOVCI, July 29 (Hina) - The eastern Croatian Vukovar-Srijem
County police on Wednesday reported on the results of tracing and
eliminating ammunition, shells and other explosive device in the
area during the first six months of this year.
According to the report, traced and destroyed in the said period
were 249,000 pieces of ammunition of the 7.62mm and 7.9mm calibre,
6,750 pieces of the 12.7mm calibre, 4,640 pieces of the 20mm
calibre, 234 pieces of the 30mm and 40mm calibre, 3,430 hand
grenades, 435 cumulative hand grenades, 2,340 rocket bombs, 2,430
anti-personnel mines, 1,105 anti-tank mines, 12 air bombs, 275
rocket launcher grenades of the 60mm calibre, 114 of the 80mm
calibre, 136 of the 120mm calibre, 370 various missiles and other
explosive device.
The said ammunition and explosive device was found in canals,
garbage dumps, woods, parks, the Dunav and Vuka river-beds, and
demolished buildings.
After a report made yesterday, the police found 40 cases of
ammunition and rocket launcher shells, hidden in a warehouse of an
agricultural cooperative near Brsadin, a village in the vicinity of
Vukovar.
The weapons will be eliminated subsequently and an investigation
will continue.
The police once again warned local residents not to touch explosive
devices, but report them to the nearest police station.
