TRAVNIK, July 27 (Hina) - New records show 14,634 flats in the
Central Bosnia Canton are under social ownership which means about
60,000 refugees and displaced people should be able to return to
their homes, says Canton Urban Planning, Zoning and Environment
Minister Zdenko Antunovic.
He said of this number, about 7,925 flats were under Bosniak
(Muslim) control.
"Reconstructed villages, mostly Bosniak, are empty, while people
continue to reside in (others') flats to which they do not have any
rights," Antunovic said.
"In order to realise the legal right on buying flats, a tenant has to
first take possession of it and this is one of the key barriers in
the return process in our canton."
Antunovic said he had written a letter to international Deputy High
Representative Hanns Schumacher explaining the situation.
