PRISTINA, July 16 (Hina) - Immediately after the Kosovo parliament
was constituted in Pristina on Thursday at the headquarters of the
southern Yugoslav province's leading Albanian party, Serbian
police intervened and seized all of the clandestine assembly's
documents.
At the constitutive meeting, which ended after noon, MPs took oaths
and chose academic Idriz Ajeti as parliamentary speaker, three
deputy speakers and a parliamentary secretary.
The Albanian-dominated assembly has 130 members.
At the end of the short meeting, strong police forces surrounded the
headquarters of the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo and entered the
building.
According to eyewitness reports, police seized all documentation
of the newly-constituted Kosovo parliament and then withdrew.
The sources said the situation was tense but up to now there had been
no arrests or any other actions by the police.
